Film buffs and trail fanatics alike will be running to the Jasper Legion this Saturday.
The Trail Running Film Festival—a collection of films documenting the culture of trail running—is coming to Jasper to help bring the community together.
Organizer Adam Lee, who hosts the Community Trail Running podcast—is thrilled to be coming to Jasper and honoured to have the opportunity to raise funds for the community after last summer’s devastating wildfires.
“Trail runners know the value of outdoor spaces and we want to help get people back to Jasper and celebrate this amazing location,” Lee said.
Lee has hosted hundreds of trail runners in Alberta and B.C. as part of the travelling film festival. The films promote adventure, wilderness, art and inclusivity across the trail and ultra running communities, he said.
“However you enjoy travelling the land, it’s good for the soul,” he said.
And the festival will be good for the community: 100 percent of proceeds will be split between the Jasper Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Habitat for the Arts, and the Jasper Legion.
Through his podcast, Lee has gotten a taste of trail running culture in Jasper. He hosted two of Jasper’s most dedicated mile mashers, Canadian Skyline Adventures’ Christian Roy and ultra athlete Kim Stark.
Trail Running Film Festival takes place at the Jasper Legion on May 17. Doors open at 6 p.m. Special guests include songstress Marie-Pierre Bergeron, Warrior Women’s Matricia Brown and Pieter and Joost from Jasper Theatre Productions. Giveaways and prizes from Totem’s Ski Shop will help keep the energy levels high.

Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. 100% of proceeds go back to Jasper.
