Summer fair raising money for international education

On August 9 Jasper residents and visitors will have the chance to shop for fruit, baked goods, home cooking, veggies, preserves, art, plants and more…and help disadvantaged families in Guatemala while doing so.

The annual Summer Fair at the Jasper Activity Centre takes place from 4-8 p.m. This year, organizers are from The Wisehart Charity. Founder Donnelly Hart, a longtime Jasperite, visits Alotenango, Guatemala every year to help provide education and training to students there.

“Our students and youth come from very poor families,” Hart said. “Our goal is to help Guatemalan families break the cycle of poverty and unemployment through education and vocational training.”

Artisan shoppers and boutique food fans’ goal will be to get to the Jasper Activity Centre between 4 and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9. Check out The Jasper Local’s Community Calendar for more information.

The Wisehart Foundation is partnering with Jasper Habitat for the Arts.
