Local Swifties surprised with Taylor tickets

A local family’s Wildest Dreams came true last week.

Violet and Barrett Beckmann are two of millions of Taylor Swift fans (known as Swifties, if you haven’t been Out of the Woods in a while).

The Beckmanns are also two of thousands of Jasperites who, thanks to a once in a century wildfire in July, have had a Cruel Summer.

In a few weeks, however, as the recipients of a family-pack of tickets to Taylor’s upcoming Vancouver concert, they’ll be doing their best to Shake If Off with their fellow screaming Swifties.

Rogers is the Presenting Sponsor of Taylor Swift The Eras Tour in Canada. A spokesperson for Rogers said the company wanted to do something special for the Beckmann family.

“As long-standing customers, we wanted to surprise them with tickets to the upcoming show in Vancouver after a devastating summer,” the spokesperson said. “Hopefully this brings a bit of joy before the end of the year.”

According to Violet and Barrett’s father, James, when presented with the surprise on November 10, the kids were shocked.

“As a family we have never won anything of this magnitude,” James said.

And while he didn’t call it Karma, James did say the timing of the gift was certainly appreciated.

“The kid’s spirits were down as the true reality of the wildfire was starting to kick in,” he said.

As part of the prize package, the whole Beckmann family will be flown to Vancouver and put up in a hotel. The spokesperson said the company wanted to remove for the family any potential barriers from getting to enjoy the prize.

“There’s nothing worse than receiving a once-in-a-lifetime gift and having to say no,” she said.

As for the Beckmanns, James said they’ll be Ready For It.

“They are “Swifties” and they are totally stoked about the upcoming trip,” he said.
