RCMP have charged a Jasper resident with possession of stolen property and dangerous driving.
On August 17, Jasper RCMP received multiple reports of a dangerous driver in the Jasper area. That same day, another call came in regarding a collision between a similarly-described vehicle and a semi truck.
“This vehicle was later determined stolen,” an RCMP release stated.
Upon arrival at the scene of the collision, Jasper RCMP identified and arrested an individual who was subsequently identified as the suspect in an ongoing vehicle theft investigation. That investigation culminated in Hinton, according to RCMP.
As a result of these investigations, Chase Allen Fogarty-Landsman (27), a resident of Jasper, has been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000; one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000; and dangerous driving.
The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and released on condtions. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Jasper on September 11, 2025 and in Hinton on September 17, 2025.
There have been five vehicle thefts in the last two months in the Jasper area, according to local RCMP—the vehicles have been recovered with the assitance of the Hinton RCMP members as well as members of the Edmonton Police Service.
Jasper RCMP Staff Seargeant Rick Bidaisee encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant in calling in dangerous driving patterns and suspicious activity.
“We all have a part to play in ensuring public safety, from calling in incidents, to securing our property, to reduce the risk of theft,” Bidaisee said.
