RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating deadly altercation

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating a deadly altercation outside of the Jasper Legion.
On September 27 at 1:17 a.m., Jasper RCMP responded to an altercation in the parking lot of the Jasper Legion. Upon arrival, a male was located on the ground, requiring medical attention.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, where they pronounced the male deceased.
A second male was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing, RCMP said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
“Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and the Edson RCMP Forensic Identification Section has been called into assist,” according to RCMP.
An update is anticipated once more information becomes available.
