Who are you and why are you running for council?
I’m running for reelection because I believe in Jasper’s future. We have faced unimaginable loss, but in that loss lies opportunity—to rebuild stronger, support families and businesses, and make sure Jasper remains vibrant, affordable and resilient. I am ready to keep leading with integrity and a deep love for this community.
What are your top community priorities that you think Jasper Municipal Council has a role in shaping and why are these issues or themes important to you?
Rebuilding a resilient and affordable Jasper, supporting economic recovery, strengthening community well-being, advancing climate action and deepening Indigenous partnerships.
We must rebuild smarter and more sustainably, ensuring growth pays for growth while keeping housing attainable. Local businesses are the heart of our economy and council must help them recover and thrive. I support a role within the municipality—beyond that of our recovery positions—that supports business.
Supporting mental health, recreation and connection will help keep our community strong.
Climate Action and Reconciliation must guide every decision we make.
I am committed to leading with experience, integrity and compassion—to guide Jasper through recovery and build a community that’s united for generations to come.
Can you share a decision or experience that shaped your commitment to public service and how it influences your approach today?
When the wildfire forced us to evacuate, I spent a month in Valemount, supporting displaced Jasper residents while being supported by that incredible community. Experiencing that generosity and resilience firsthand, changed how I lead. It reminded me that public service is about compassion, listening and standing with people through their hardest moments. That experience deepened my commitment to lead with empathy and integrity.
If elected, how will you ensure transparency and public engagement in your decision-making process?
Transparency and engagement have guided my work throughout this term, and they’ll continue to be my priority if re-elected. Residents should have the opportunity to know how and why decisions are made. I’ll keep supporting open meetings, accessible information and clear communication about council decisions and budgets. I also believe budgeting should be something residents can be part of and would support community budget engagement workshops, opportunities for residents to learn how our budget works, share their priorities and strengthen the connection between council and community. True transparency builds trust, and trust builds a stronger Jasper.
What is one issue you believe isn’t getting enough attention in our community, and how would you address it?
Climate change is an issue that has been gaining attention, but progress has been slower than it needs to be. The wildfire was a wake-up call, reminding us that climate change and community resilience are deeply connected. Council now has a responsibility to accelerate climate action by rebuilding in ways that respect the land and protect future generations. That also means learning from Indigenous Partners, whose traditional knowledge offers valuable guidance in stewardship, recovery and adaptation. I’ll continue to champion practical, community driven solutions that honour the land, strengthen resilience and prepare Jasper for a changing climate.
Please feel free to include a closing statement or sum up your platform.
My platform is about rebuilding a stronger, more resilient Jasper – one that’s affordable, sustainable and inclusive. We have an opportunity not just to recover, but to reimagine how we grow and work together as a community. This means building wildfire-resilient housing, supporting local businesses, advancing climate action and keeping residents meaningfully engaged in decision making.
A key part of my vision is reconciliation and in Jasper, we have a unique opportunity to pursue economic reconciliation by working with Indigenous People to create shared opportunities in tourism, employment and community development. By fostering partnerships grounded in respect and mutual benefit, we can honour the land we share while strengthening Jasper’s future together.
