In hockey, most goals don’t happen without an assist.
And for a community in recovery, reaching its recovery goals would be impossible without the assistance of others.
In the next 12 days, two opportunities to assist in Jasper’s recovery are being saucer-passed to community members by the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF). Volunteers are being sought to help sell 50/50 raffle tickets at the Saturday, March 28 and Thursday, April 2 Edmonton Oilers games.
If you are outgoing, enjoy high energy environments and want to help Jasper, this might be the perfect pass you’ve been waiting to one-time in the back of the net.
“These are exciting opportunities for volunteers to support Jasper,” said Wanda Bogdane, executive director of the Jasper Community Team Society (JCTS).
“We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to come together in support of this incredible place,” added Heather Aussant Roy, general manager of the Friends of Jasper National Park (FJNP).
The two local organizations have racked up hall-of-fame-worthy legacies of supporting Jasper. Now, with Calgary-based Karbon-X and Tourism Jasper, which have designated the JCTS and FJNP, respectively, as their charitable recipients, locals can be champions—of a collective cause.

The Friends of Jasper National Park have worked with the EOCF in the past. Participating organizations are part of a multi-day draw that benefit multiple Alberta charities throughout the week. In return for their volunteer efforts, the JCTS and the FJNP will receive a portion of their assigned game day sales, less administrative and licensing fees, from the EOCF.
“We are a strong and united community. And we are grateful to everyone lending a hand on this journey,” Bogdane said.
