Bravo! Francophone students shine in holiday concert

Ecole Desrochers’ annual Spectacle de Noel took place on Thursday evening (December 22), showcasing the talents of students and teachers in front of an appreciative audience.

The Jasper Local was there to snap the spectacle of the season.

Hosting the holiday affair were Grade 12 students Shanti Langevin and Léa Fortin. Their natural chemistry and quick wit kept the show rolling and the entertainers at ease.

MCs Shanti Langevin and Léa Fortin charmed the crowd.

Parents were able to regard the influence that Ecole Desrochers’ music instructor Philipe Von Trzebiatovski has had on the student body. Von Trzebiatovski’s passion for playing, and for teaching, was evident throughout the evening.

Under the tutelage of Mr. Philipe and Mme. Marie-France Miron, many different instruments featured prominently in the holiday concert. Not just piano, guitar and drums, but xylophone, fiddle, accordion and the students’ own bodies!

Parents of Parker Darrah were on Cloud 9 watching the performance.
Klara Verbruggen and the Grade 1/2s brought the Dance of the Penguins from YouTube to real life.

Priscila Rodriguez Froland wowed the crowd with a soulful version of Last Christmas.
M. Philipe and Grade 9 student Calvin Argument showcased their musical dexterity with a double accordion duet.

Perennial volunteer and longtime board member on the preschool, Paul Langevin, was honoured for his dedication to Ecole Desrochers by Principal Marie-Claude Faucher.
“The school is a wonderful community, which makes it an easy gig,” he said.
