Introducing Jasper’s Local Job Board

Introducing Jasper’s Local Job Board

“Worker Bee” Jordan raised the question during the Town Hall sessions: “Is there a local job board?”

Yes, there is!  The Jasper Local is pleased to introduce Local Jobs to support both volunteer and paid positions.  Posting a job or volunteer position is fast, free and easy.  Here is a quick guide to using the service.

How do I post a job?

Create your job post directly on the Jasper Local website.  You will be asked to register first.  Registration enables us to ensure that all postings are for legitimate opportunities.

If you are posting from your phone, click on the white circle to the right of the words “The Jasper Local”.

Be sure to include an email address or phone number in your job posting so that applicants can reach you.

How much does it cost to post a job?

The Jasper Local is offering this as a free service.

Do you offer different job categories?

We are launching with only two categories: volunteer positions and paid jobs.  As the number of jobs increases, we will add categories to reflect the types of jobs posted.

What about volunteer opportunities?

There is a separate category for volunteer opportunities.  Please be as specific as possible, in terms of type of work and duration of help needed.

Why should I post jobs with The Jasper Local instead of Indeed?

Local posting enables you to reach a Jasper audience.  You may get fewer applicants than on Indeed, but you will get Jasperites who are here and ready to work.  A lower volume of higher quality applicants makes hiring easier.

What about fraud?

Large job boards are a favourite hunting ground for fraudsters.  We require all job posters to register and we will review all postings.  If we see any issues or are notified of problems, we will remove the jobs.  We may also choose to activate moderation prior to posting the jobs, meaning that we will personally review every job before it goes live on the Jasper Local.

Anything else?

We will tailor the service to meet the needs of our community.  Please send all feedback to Andrea Ziegler: andrea@ravencommunitymedia.com
