Aussie folk artist topping live music event at JPP

One of Jasper’s most popular restaurants will soon be dishing up live music and good vibes.

On July 4 at 8:30 p.m., Jasper Pizza Place will host a rooftop concert featuring Australian singer-songwriter Kim Churchill and folk duo The Isaac Brothers.

Churchill, who specializes in folk, rock, and blues music, was five-years-old when his mum first handed him a guitar.

“Music has been my way of interacting with existence and everything in it,” Churchill said.

His passion for sharing music’s energy, laughter, emotion, and ability to brighten peoples’ day only grew after he graduated from high school. Soon after, he embraced the freedoms and inspiration of van life and never looked back. In the meantime, he’s cut six albums.

Despite the prominence and availability of streaming digital music, Churchill is still driven to tour his music far from home to play live for small audiences.

“I just hope that it brings people together and gives everyone a chance to connect, to emote and to express,” he said.

Despite not having been to Jasper in more than a decade, Churchill has always found himself drawn to the mountains. Being from a community of just 3,000 people, he likewise finds familiarity in small towns.

On July 4, when Churchill kicks off his Canadian tour, he’ll have some help from Canmore folk duo, The Isaac Brothers.

Known for their blend of rhythmic guitar, melodic piano and rich vocal harmonies, The Isaac Brothers’ perform both original songs and heartfelt covers, drawing inspiration from the majestic mountains they grew up in.

For Churchill, music and lifestyle are inseparably intertwined, He’s excited to kick off his tour across Canada by sharing that passion with Jasper.

“It’s my way of life. It’s all I know and I love it dearly. I’ll never stop.”

Tickets are available in advance for $20 on Eventbrite. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.; music starts at 9 p.m.

This event is possible thanks to the organizers and presenting sponsors, Twilight Entertainment and Rocky Mountain Live, who are committed to bringing in other acts to Jasper and Rocky Mountain communities in the future.
