Re: Jasperites organizing for fractured friend, January 28, 2026
Dear Editor,
I am Vratislav Ďurech’s sister, Lucka Ďurechová.
Our lives with my brother are miles apart, but our relationship is beautiful and loving. All of his good friends, including you in Jasper and here in Slovakia, know him in the same way.
I will not describe my brother Vrať, because you yourself have described him beautifully and concisely. Despite my great pain, but also great faith in the help of good people, I found the strength to write to you, also on behalf of my parents and his two nieces, Katka and Valika.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful help provided for my brother Vrať Ďurech and his wife Aneta. I am very grateful to you for all your care and for publishing a wonderful article in The Jasper Local. My thanks go to everyone who participated in the fundraising help, such as Jacub Bahnik, Pierre Carret, Don Meggison and others. Of course, I would like to thank all the people, families and friends who are with us and who sincerely want to help Vraťo to be among us again and make our lives more beautiful, just as he has done so far.
I know that he will fight, he will do it for his wife Anet, for all of us, and for you, my friends, because you are here with him and your support and love are strong. As Vraťo’s sister, I can say … he is a fighter. I ask for your continued support, and may your strong faith in his recovery not leave you and continue to be here for him.
Thank you, my dear friends.
Lucka Ďurechová, Slovakia
Editor’s Note: A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Vrato and his wife, Aneta Lukesova.
