Roadwork to cause delays on several Jasper-area roads through October
Parks Canada says safety projects on fire-impacted roads will mean alternating traffic and periodic stoppages
Drivers travelling around Jasper National Park should expect delays on several roads as Parks Canada carries out safety mitigation work on fire-impacted roadways through the end of October.
Work is planned on:
- 93A (Wabasso Road)
- Marmot Road
- Whistlers Road, leading to the Jasper SkyTram
- Maligne Road
The Cavell Road remains closed.
Parks Canada says the work will require single-lane alternating traffic and periodic stoppages. Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their trips and to follow the directions of traffic control personnel, posted signs and reduced speed zones.
The agency says the projects are intended to improve safety for motorists and workers on roads affected by last summer’s wildfire.
For current road conditions, delays and closures, check 511 Alberta or dial 511 in Alberta. Drivers travelling in British Columbia can check DriveBC or call 1-800-550-4997.
