Evergreens celebrates 65 years of seniors housing

When they turn 65, individuals in Canada become eligible for a pension.

But when the Evergreens Foundation turns 65, pensioners throw a party!

On Saturday, May 24, the Evergreens Foundation celebrated its senior citizen status with a block party, BBQ and bouncy-castle bonanza.

Staff at Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge put out an incredible spread for the community. This wasn’t your average weeny roast!

The anniversary wasn’t the only celebration happening that week. Local matriarchs Glenda Cornforth (May 22) and Della Senz (May 25) were blowing out candles—190 of them in total, if you’re counting.

The Evergreens Foundation is a not-for-profit housing management body supporting independent housing in six Alberta municipalities: Jasper, Edson, Hinton, Yellowhead County, MD of Greenview (Grande Cache) and Parkland County.

The anniversary party leads into Seniors Week (June 2-8). From swimming excursions to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, live music to lunches, there are a host of events and activities open to all seniors in the community.
