Hinton RCMP seek public’s help locating overdue camper

Hinton RCMP are asking for the public’s help locating a 27-year-old Hinton man who has not been in contact with his family since Sept. 30.

Dexter Joseph Altrogge left his home near Cheviot Drive in Hinton and told family he may be going backcountry camping in the Kelly’s Bathtub or Jarvis Lake areas near Hinton.

Altrogge was expected home Oct. 1 but has not contacted his family since about 9 p.m. Sept. 30.

RCMP are concerned for his safety and are asking anyone who may have seen Altrogge or has information about his whereabouts to come forward.

Altrogge is described as approximately six feet tall and 170 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and a goatee. He was last known to be wearing a light tan summer jacket and either jeans or black shell pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hinton RCMP at 780-865-5544 or their local police detachment.

RCMP said the investigation remains ongoing and thanked community members for their assistance so far.
