Raymond Chester Knight

Raymond Chester Knight passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and held in great love, in Jasper, Alberta, where he was born and lived his exceptionally full and vibrant 84 years.

Time stood still
for that moment
in the morning

It was felt from the mountains
down through the rivers, the lakes, the streams
the stands of aspen and fir
the brown eyed susans and the ladyslippers

one of our own has made his last run

And all of creation bowed its’ head in reverence
for a life so extraordinarily well lived
start to end
in this place that he loved.

Immense appreciation to the amazing team who took such incredible care of Ray and helped him stay happily at home with the love of his life Fay, and to the nurses in our hospital who made sure he was comfortable for the very last leg of his journey.

We will be having a BBQ at one of his favourite spots in early summer and everyone who wants to come is welcome.

Thank you for all the fun Ramo, we love you!

Fay, Louise, Lynda, Jamin, Charlie, Emily, Jesse, Jake, Mike and Dory

My Grandpa

A thoughtful creature, pondered life,
excited by each day
another chance to learn
another chance to play

full of pride and humility
yet never lacking fun
no matter if warm or cold
no matter rain or sun

tough to the bone, relentless and wild
yet still the calm in the storm
not many are as lucky as I,
to know this kind of charm

Raymond Knight the best
Grandpa in the world.
-Jamin

calm like a river
quietly flowing in mid winter
his presence so strong,
with a heart as gentle as a whisper

early morning walks,
before the world rubbed its eyes awake
and sunset skies behind the boat at the lake

a glimmer of excitement rested in his eyes,
a desire to live born upon the mountain and the skies

he’s come full circle,
his last walk we did share

a mountain of a man,
a spirit so rare
-Emmy

His love, guidance, and
support have shaped us
into who we are today,
we’re grateful for every
moment we shared.

His kindness and generosity
have made a lasting
impact on our lives.
Thank you for being an amazing
father in law.
-Dory
