New food festival to spice up spring

New food festival to spice up spring

The table is set for a new festival showcasing Jasper’s finest flavours.

A Taste of Spring is a seasonal culinary celebration cooked up by Tourism Jasper alongside live music and unique art.

“Taste of Spring gathers Jasper’s best chefs, musicians, artists and other talented locals to show off their craft in the place that inspires it,” said Fawn Furlotte, Destination Animation and Events Specialist at Tourism Jasper.

Mixology classes, wine tastings, food tours and alpine picnics will help spice up spring in Jasper—typically a less-busy time in terms of visitors. Local foodie and social media specialist, Tourism Jasper’s Emily Van Tighem, is particularly excited for the Beers and Pie Pairing at Jasper Brewing Co and Springtime Sips at Evil Dave’s Grill.

“And alllll the live music,” she added.

From long table dinners to intimate concerts around town, participants will help welcome spring in Jasper in style, Furlotte said.

Highlights include: sitting fireside with an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper for a unique evening of storytelling, musical performance and tea with traditional bannock; diving into Jasper’s live music scene; and seeing Jasper through artists’ eyes with an UpLift! Mural Festival tour or guided paint nights.

“It’s the best way to sample Jasper’s talent while kicking off the season,” Furlotte said.
